DIGITAL DOWNLOAD - you get the laser-cut files to make this room box yourself. Nothing is shipped.

An open-front 1:12 cottage kitchen, ready to fill.

A two-pane window with a scored casing and sill sits in the back wall with a garden view card behind it. Beadboard wainscot and a chair rail wrap the back and side walls, and the floor is scored with planks. The inner side walls angle in toward the back for a forced-perspective look, two keyholes with nail pockets let it hang on a wall, and a flat 1/2 in front trim glues on and hides every joint. The box itself is tab-and-slot, so it squares up as you build it.

This is the room that year one of The Monthly Bench kit club fills - a new 1:12 kitchen piece every month.

What you get (instant download)

  • SVG cut files for 2.7 mm, 3 mm or 4 mm plywood (pick the folder that matches your calipers)
  • 12 pieces on 9 boards, each 10 x 10 in
  • Holding tabs on every piece: lift the whole sheet off the laser in one go and push the pieces out at the bench - nothing drops into the honeycomb
  • Part names scored next to each piece, so you always know which is which
  • Every piece as its own SVG, for recutting a single part
  • An 11-page instruction booklet: cutting guide, board maps, parts list, 6 illustrated assembly steps and Apple Barrel paint colors with item numbers
  • Finished-model mockup images

Finished size

  • Outside: 241 x 236 x 193 mm (9.5 x 9.3 x 7.6 in) W x H x D
  • Inside: about 9 x 7.5 ft of kitchen at 1:12 (back wall 194 mm, 185 mm deep, 231 mm high)
  • Window: 30 x 36 in at 1:12, sill 42 in above the floor

You'll need

  • A laser cutter with at least a 10 x 10 in work area
  • 2.7 mm, 3 mm or 4 mm plywood (9 sheets, 10 x 10 in)
  • Wood glue (for the front trim, pockets and window view card), fine sandpaper, optional acrylic paints

Laser-friendly files

Black = cut, blue = score. Part names are single-line lettering on the score layer, so they mark in the same quick pass - no engraving.

This is a digital download. No physical items will be shipped.
