About Me
About Village Tackle Crafts
Village Tackle Crafts makes simple crafts you can actually finish — the kind of project where you sit down, work with your hands for an afternoon, and walk away with something real. Beginner-friendly by design, but with enough detail packed in that the more experienced makers stick around too.
Meet Nicholas
This whole thing started in 2002 with a vise, some thread, and a curiosity about whether I could tie a decent fishing fly. Turns out I could — and that I liked building things from scratch even more than I expected. One hobby turned into an online shop, then into laser-cut craft kits, and now into little miniature houses built one tiny wall at a time. Different projects, same itch to make something and see where it goes.
Fishing Flies & Lures, Still
Tying flies is where this whole thing started, and it's not going anywhere — I just don't chase it at the old production-line pace anymore. These days it's a small, limited-run part of the shop rather than the main event: a way to keep that original craft (and the fun of it) alive without turning it back into a full-time grind.
Why Everything's a Drop, Not a Stock Item
You won't find a big always-available catalog here. Fishing flies, craft kits, miniature builds — they all show up in small batches, released when they're ready rather than kept in stock forever. It keeps things exciting for me to make and worth paying attention to for you: when something drops, it's usually gone before it sits around long.
How It's Made
Everything starts by hand, then gets cleaned up in Illustrator so it's laser- and CNC-ready — old-school craft meeting modern tools. That combo is what lets a design stay consistent whether it's the first one I cut or the fiftieth, while the hands-on part stays the fun part.
Follow Along on The Miniature Architect
The best place to watch this all come together is my YouTube channel, The Miniature Architect — that's where the miniature builds live, step by step, along with whatever else I'm figuring out along the way (don't be surprised if a fishing fly sneaks into a video now and then). Subscribe there to see what's coming before it drops.
Want the digital files behind the builds — patterns, cut files, the stuff that doesn't fit in a video? Join The Miniature Architects — it's free to join, and that's where I share the designs directly with anyone who wants to build along.
